In honor of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, we held a seminar that brought together representatives of local authorities, international organizations, and civil society.
The seminar addressed key aspects of the Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) concept, including target setting and monitoring criteria (vegetation cover, soil fertility, and organic carbon content). The keynote speech was delivered by German Kust, the international consultant for the Aral Sea Wetlands project.
Uzbekistan has set a goal to achieve land degradation neutrality by 2030 within the framework of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). This is an important step toward preserving land resources, ensuring environmental sustainability, and improving the well-being of the population.
This seminar marked the starting point for dialogue on LDN and strengthening cooperation among all interested parties.
